A Review of Current Thinking about the Nature of Work and Economic Resilience

We are interested in making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable as this is where the flaws in the system show most starkly, not just in terms of poverty, but also inequality. To do this, all players in society – including financial institutions – must shoulder some of the responsibility for minimising outcomes of their operations that can be detrimental and maximising the benefit to those most vulnerable to market failure. However, we wish to avoid funding solely the development of solutions for the poorest; our criteria will emphasise more all-encompassing design of disruptive policy and technology.

The project we wish to commission

We are seeking to commission a literature and policy solutions review on the nature of work in the modern economy, to inform our work on economic change. We recognise that the workplace is the locus for many of the issues that the Resilient Economies Programme seeks to address. This is a busy field and we are keen to increase understanding of it, to ensure that any future investments made in this area add value and retain a focus on the core aims of the Resilient Economies programme.
