Jo Wilce

Grants Officer

Jo assesses project proposals across a whole spectrum of topics that contribute to changing the economy.

After guiding successful applicants through the process of setting up their grants, she is also there to work with them once the projects are up and running. Plus she supports Danielle in how the Foundation’s social investments are managed.

Before joining the Foundation, Jo was project manager for the international development charity Shared Interest Foundation, where she developed grant proposals, attracted funding and managed projects with partners globally who were involved in fair trade and fair finance. She has also worked in local government, as a project officer for International relations where she managed a network of international relationships, and developed projects to benefit communities, schools and businesses in Leeds. During a year out, she was a fundraising advisor for a Braille charity in Nairobi and has also worked for an MP and MEP assisting both with their research and constituency work. On the voluntary front, Jo is on the fundraising advisory group for Refugee Action York and occasionally helps out preparing meals in the kitchen.

Jo loves learning languages and from time to time has a go at French and Spanish. She’s keen on trying to upcycle things – home, furniture or textiles – but in reality most of her spare time these days is taken up by her young son, playing football or cars and trains!

One word that sums up her job? UNDULATING!
