Abigail Gibson

Grants Manager

Abby oversees the grant giving side of the Foundation’s work, managing the application process, assessing applications and supporting trustees in their grant-giving decisions. She also works with grant holders on a day to day basis as they deliver their projects.

Before joining the Foundation, she worked in the voluntary sector, including a number of years as a fundraiser, so has a strong sense of what applicants and grant holders experience in trying to raise funds. Immediately prior to joining the Foundation, Abby was self-employed and before that a Research and Policy Manager for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Outside of work, she chairs a small charity which supports and promotes breastfeeding in the Selby area, has volunteered for the NCT and has been a volunteer grant assessor for the Money Saving Expert charity and a trustee for an alcohol abuse charity in Scotland.

Whilst her time and energy are largely focused on her very energetic and amusing small child, she is also rediscovering a love of reading through a local book group and trying to discover a love of running. Despite having a very small garden she is constantly amazed by how much food you can grow in pots!
