Friends Provident Foundation has joined with a range of global investors in signing a letter to the G20 in support of the adoption of the Paris Agreement in December 2015.

The letter represents a timely and important contribution by the global investment community to supporting government leadership on climate change in the wake the Paris Agreement.

The letter makes several recommendations to G20 governments, including asking governments to join/ratify the Agreement on climate change, implement the 2015 Global Investor Statement on Climate Change’s recommendations, improve the quality of climate-related financial disclosures, among others.

The letter was drafted through a collaboration of five organizations: Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), Ceres Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), Investor Group on Climate Change Australia/New Zealand (IGCC), CDP and the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).  This 2016 letter builds on the precedent of previous global investor statements, including the 2015 Global Investor Statement on Climate Change.

We are proud to join with other investors in support of this important development.
